In the old Hawaii, people came together to celebrate important occasions with a big feast. These social gatherings where called 'aha'aina. Experience a modern interpretation of this traditional Hawaiian feast at the Aha'aina Luau, which takes place at the iconic Royal Hawaiian Hotel, one of the first hotels built on Waikiki Beach.

Situated on the Royal Hawaiian's Ocean Lawn, which overlooks Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach, Aha'aina Luau is composed of three spectacular acts. The evening’s festivities begin with time-honored activities, such as poi pounding (traditional Hawaiian starch made from taro), kapa making (cloth made of pounded bark) and na lawai'a (tending of fishing tools).

Then listen to the sound of the pu (conch shell), calling all luau guests to the feast, which features authentic flavors from a variety of cultures that came to Hawaii as immigrant workers in the plantation era. After dinner, watch a stunning performance that commemorates Hawaii's rich history and culture through music and dance.
